Created in 2001, Shreveport Opera Xpress (SOX) is the education and outreach
program of Shreveport Opera and the ONLY program of its kind in the entire
state! SOX performances take place in schools, libraries, community centers,
children’s hospitals and nonprofit organizations and reach approximately 50,000
children, youth and adults annually. The performances provide a unique
cultural experience, one many would not have otherwise, as well as teach
valuable lessons through their social messages.

“Eat Right, and Move!” – a world-premiere opera where children in grades Pre K through 5th learn about
the benefits of physical fitness and the advantages of good nutrition and a
healthy, active lifestyle.

“Operatizers” - a concert of opera arias and musical show tunes designed to expose middle
and high school students to the art form in hopes that they will develop an
appreciation for the arts and become opera patrons in the future.
